Signature Programs
Districts
SOAR's professional development workshops at local, departmental, and district levels encompass diverse educational facets via immersive and virtual sessions.

Programming includes our very popular immersive Educator program "Dirty Hands = Engaged Brains", and our top virtual PDs "It's a Cyborg World - How to Conquer the Hybrid Beast" and "Learned Helplessness, Stop the Victim Cycle".

Virtual PDs offered during the academic year remained available over the summer due to popular demand and included our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Connecting Culture to Curriculum, and Special Education (SPED) programs.

SOAR's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) series are customizable and continue to be in high demand. Available as a long-term series or short-term, ICT workshops and sessions provide participants with an overview of and insight into local and national statistics, challenges, solutions, and the evolution required to afford all stakeholders the opportunities to be academically and globally competitive by bridging the digital divide via ICT literacy.

Districts may opt to engage a department based on a subject- or grade-specific band for any one session or combination of sessions. Teachers are welcome to attend immersive summer sessions as a group (same district) or as individuals for an inter-district session. Expanded programs for 2024 are in development based on current research and input from partners and participants.
Students
Immersive summer programming continued in 2021; children, families, and teens joined SOAR for a welcome return to the outdoors for science education. As districts and families adjust and regain access to in-person education, SOAR will resume existing Student Signature Programs with partnered districts.
We invite new districts to join us for the benefit of all students. We welcome parent and student recommendations and will outreach to districts based on such.

Student volunteer opportunities for community service hours are available. There are anticipated openings for spring and summer 2024. Interested high school students (11th and 12th grade) and college students are welcome to apply for upcoming positions/opportunities.

Immersive Fall programs will resume in late October and will include expanded volunteer and community service opportunities. In-person, inter-session enrichment classes providing out-of-classroom science learning experiences are available based on updated regional and district social distancing policies.
